WhyNot
Located next to the Dome on George Street, WhyNot Nightclub has been voted Scotland’s Best Nightclub since 2013, by a variety of events. WhyNot has a variety of different rooms, those being the Main Room, the LED Room, the Vault and the Garden. The Main Room plays a variety of popular music, with a focus on dance music. The LED Room plays a mix of Hip-Hop and RnB, and features multiple video screens on the walls and on the ceiling. The vault is a private VIP area, that is built like a bank vault, hence the name. The Garden is a outside smoking area located at the back of the club, just underneath Rose Street. It sometimes hosts events (e.g. Silent Disco nights) and also has its own cocktail bar and food area. WhyNot has multiple of its own club nights, that run on a Monday, Wednesday and through the weekend. The Monday and Wednesday nights are student nights, called Flare and Love respectively.
What’s Fresh? recommends:
Pre-drink before - Whilst the prices at WhyNot is not that bad, it is much better to enter the club slightly inebriated, and use the bars to just keep your drunk level optimal, rather than playing catch up with drinks whilst you are at WhyNot.
Socialise - The outside garden in WhyNot is excellent, and is the perfect place to meet and talk with other club-goers. Personally, I have friends still to this day, that I met in the WhyNot garden back in first year.
Over do it in First Year - Contrary to our advice about Dropkick’s, What’s Fresh? recommends you to go to WhyNot as much as possible in 1st year, as it will never be as fun as it was in your first year. Take advantage of meeting new people and building friendships you will make going here as well.
