Maggie Dickson's
Located on Grassmarket, Maggie Dickson’s is a historic pub named after the ‘Half Hangit’ Maggie Dickson, who survived a execution attempt in 1724. The pub itself is more of a tourist oriented pub, like most others on Grassmarket, but it does offer a student discount through the Scotsman rewards app. It is also very small inside, with a seated capacity of around 30 people. It offers live music every day, as well as broadcasting all major sports events.
What’s Fresh? recommends:
New refurb - Maggie Dickson’s has just went through a major refurbishment, and it looks great inside now! It has helped elevate the atmosphere of the pub, and gave the pub a nice refresh.
Good Food - Maggie’s food is excellent for a pub, and all good food has to be paired with a equally good drink as well!
Great Pub Crawl - What’s Fresh? recommends to have Maggie Dickson’s as one of the pub’s to go into as part of a pub crawl. It is worth visiting, especially for the history of the place, but it being extremely small hurts it as a place to stay for a prolonged period of time.
